So I’ve been storing all this up for quite a while and I thought it was about time I put it out there.
I’m designing a lipstick to be put in my goodie box. Since one of the sponsors of the store opening is MAC makeup, the idea is that LOVE and MAC have collaborated to release this one off lipstick that will only be given to VIP’s who will receive the box.
I’m a makeup fanatic myself and as silly as it is, if a product has amazing packaging I’ll usually buy it. Over the counter brands such as Rimmel, Maybelline or Barry M arent normally packaged; where as more expensive brands like Benefit, MAC, Clinique and Nars are. A higher quality professional brand will make their packaging just as beautiful as the product.

The Dainty Doll collection is one of my favourites. Its specifically made for people with pale skin and is designed by Nicola Roberts from Girls Aloud. The packaging all has an illustrated character on (The Dainty Doll), modelled on Nicola Roberts herself. Its really simple with the black and looks really elegant too.

Benefit have a wide variety of products with very diverse packaging to suit each collection. Many of the collections have very pastel graphic packaging which give a softer, girlier feel; whilst other collections have bolder, wilder packaging so reflect the colour range of the products.

These Paul&Joe lipsticks are so cute and whilst I’d probably buy it just for the fact that its shaped like a cat, the outside packaging patterns are really beautiful too. No one wants a plain boring lipstick in their bag.

MAC are known for their professional standard makeup and their limited edition collections which always have amazing fun packaging. Their collections are usually themed and the packaging reflects this theme. They never limit themselves to what the can and cannot do, which is why their products look so amazing. The simple black lipstick packaging has been glammed up with a metallic red writing across it that looks amazing.

Topshop have recently brought out their own makeup range and have kept their packaging very monotone but with a handdrawn feel to it by having makeup marks all over them. The packaging isnt as sleek as other brands but that is because their target consumer is a high street shopper who is generally going to be quite young and cant afford more expensive brands of makeup. Their limited edition Glitter Stick stuck out from the rest of their products because of its packaging. Its much brighter and more decorative
From looking at a range of makeup collections available and their packaging I think anything goes. Especially with limited edition products are they are meant to stand out from the rest of the regular products.
